Hi, I’m Matthew — a UK-trained educator with a background in journalism and communications within the Emergency Services. Since relocating to Thailand in 2021, I have gained extensive experience teaching across kindergarten, primary, and bilingual schools.
I have taught over 200 students in the UK, worked across multiple institutions in Bangkok, and continue to deliver online lessons with a strong record of student success.
Qualifications include a BA in TESOL, TEFL certification, and professional shorthand training.
“I am writing to highly recommend Teacher Matthew. My daughter, Fairy, had been a student in his class and has had a wonderful learning experience. Teacher Matthew is an exceptionally kind and engaging educator. He has a unique ability to make lessons fun and interactive through a wide variety of classroom activities. Fairy truly enjoys his teaching style and always looks forward to his classes. His dedication and creative approach to teaching would make him an excellent addition to any school.”

There’s a lot of information online about teaching abroad — and not all of it is reliable.
Not always. Many schools accept first-time teachers with a degree and TEFL certificate. Better schools will, however, expect some experience and professionalism.
Without a degree, typically 30,000–50,000 THB per month. With a degree and a PGCE you can earn up to 120,000 THB per month, and a degree in teaching can pay just as well. With a degree that isn't connected to teaching, you can still earn up to 90,000 THB per month. You can live comfortably at any of these levels, though saving large amounts is harder at the lower end.
Yes. Avoid jobs asking for upfront fees, unclear contracts, or unrealistic promises. Always verify employers before committing.
Often you can enter first and arrange the correct visa with your employer. The process varies by situation, so proper guidance is important.
They vary widely. Expect larger classes and different teaching styles, alongside friendly students and a genuinely unique experience.
Adjusting to the culture, handling paperwork, and classroom management in the early weeks. These are normal and very manageable with guidance.
Travel, lifestyle, personal growth, and experiencing a new culture. Many teachers describe the move as life-changing.
You can save modestly depending on your lifestyle, but most people prioritise the experience over the savings.
If you’re adaptable, open-minded, and looking for something new, it could be a great fit. It’s not always easy — but it is rewarding.
Still unsure? That’s completely normal.
